It is about time Coventry hosted an inaugural Comic Con so that is exactly what will happen on Sunday 1st October 2017 at the Sports Connexion venue near Coventry.
We will be hosting small press and creators as well as the usual array of dealers to suit your every need. We have already confirmed 3 guests:
Ian Richardson is a comics artist whose past work includes episodes of Sinister Dexter, Tharg’s Future Shocks, Past Imperfect and Judge Dredd for 2000 AD, as well as two issues of Panini’s Marvel Heroes title. He has also worked for American publishers, including Image Comics on Noble Causes. He recently completed work on Halo Escalation for Dark Horse Comics & is a regular cover artist for Zenescope Comics. Ian will be available for commissions, signings and will be on a panel.
Neil McClements is a self taught artist who lives in Leicestershire with his wife and two children. Hadopelagic is his first ongoing comic strip, but this year also sees his work published in Soaring Penguin’s WW1 anthology To End All Wars. A staunch supporter of the small press he has contributed comic artwork for many years to many publications and sees the artists working for them as his biggest inspiration.
Film and TV
Peter Walshe talks about what it was like working on Doctor Who in the 1970’s. Peter appeared in two Doctor Who stories: as Erak in The Sontaran Experiment and a pikeman in The Masque of Mandragora. Tom Baker was the Doctor at the time. There will be a Q&A session at the end.
We will be announcing more guests over the coming weeks.
There will also be complementary events running alongside the main floor which includes comic artist panels, informative talks and Q&A sessions and a Cosplay competition. Tickets are great value and start from £5.
